How to sell your stuff at Cash4Clothes

1

Gather Your Items

We ask that you bring in clean clothing that is stain, odor, and damage-free. Check the list of brands and styles that we're currently looking for, as well as brands and styles we don't take. See the list of brands we don't take here.

2

Follow Our Policies

Please limit your items to two bags or boxes per session. Sellers must stay inside the store while we review your items: no drop offs, please.

3

We'll Review Your Items

We will look through your items and select the things that we want for our store based on season, style, quality, brand, and other factors. Please trust that our experienced buyers know what they're doing!

4

We Finalize The Deal

If we decide to make an offer on anything (and you accept), we'll give you cash on the spot, or a gift card for in-store credit good at both of our stores.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of clothes, brands and styles do you buy?
Icon

Some of the brands we currently love are: Patagonia, Lululemon, Cotopaxi, Stio, Fjallraven, Arc'Teryx, Mountain Hardwear, Carhartt, Levi's and Vuori. We always love to look at vintage, Western wear, Montana-related pieces, and pretty much anything unusual, fun, interesting or super high quality. As long as it's not on our "do not buy" list, bring it in and we will be glad to check it out!

Which brands and styles do you NOT buy?
Icon

We don't buy brands you might find at Target, Ross, Kohl's, Walmart or Costco, and we don't by fast fashion brands. This includes Shein, H&M, Universal Threads, No Boundaries, Knox Rose, Coldwater Creek, Ann Taylor, Rue 21, Charlotte Russe, Merona, London Fog, So, Kirkland, Mossimo, Xhilaration, and Old Navy. See a current list of brands we do not buy (which is not exhaustive) at this link.

We do not buy kids' clothing, business or office attire (most suits, for example), or prom dresses (unless they are vintage, then we might make an exception). Yes, we buy Levi's but we don't buy ALL Levi's, all the time. Sometimes we are pretty full on certain sizes, or we're preferring certain styles.

Our criteria are never black and white (we're the kings and queens of exceptions), but we are always selective and in tune with what is selling and what our customers want. We know it's not perfect guidance, but we hope it helps!

Do you buy boots, shoes, or accessories?
Icon

When they are in good condition and right for our store, we do sometimes buy boots, shoes, hats, belts and purses. Bring 'em in and we are happy to take a look!

What about jewelry?
Icon

We do purchase jewelry, but not all of our purchasers are experienced in buying it. If you have jewelry you are interested in selling, the best day to come in is on a Friday or a Sunday.

What about designer brands/items?
Icon

We are more than happy to check out super high end, designer items. We may be able to sell them in our store, or we might purchase them to sell in our Ebay store. But if you're looking for a really high return on the original retail price, you'd probably be better off putting in the work to sell them yourself. Hope that makes sense. Just sayin'.

When do you purchase? Do I need an appointment?
Icon

We generally purchase between 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and Sunday. We do not purchase on Saturdays and we are closed on Mondays. You do not need an appointment to bring in your stuff, but if we have multiple sellers at one time, you may have to wait 15-30 minutes for us to get to your items (we do not allow drop-offs).

Although we work hard to be consistent, we sometimes have to modify our purchasing hours due to staffing or other issues. Please check our website or give us a call before you come down for the most current purchasing hours.

How much do you pay? How do you decide?
Icon

We generally pay 20-40 percent of what we plan to sell an item for (not its original retail value). So if we plan to sell an item for around $20, then we will give you $4-$6, depending on its quality and "flavor" (as we like to say:). Sometimes we will pay a slightly higher percentage for really amazing stuff. If you decide to go with in-store credit, we can give you 30 percent more than our cash offer.

I brought stuff in and you didn't want any of it. Why?
Icon

Our experienced buyers review hundreds of pieces every single day, and they must be highly selective pretty much all year round. Seasonality, size, quality and uniqueness are just a few factors that come into play. This is what makes our store so incredible for shoppers! But we completely understand that it doesn't feel good to have your stuff rejected.

Here are a few reasons we may decide not to make an offer:

  1. We currently have too many X (jeans, men's button ups) in that size.
  2. Items are dirty or smell like smoke (cigarette or pot).
  3. We're transitioning to a different season.
  4. Items are good quality but not super unique (we only have so much room for basics!).
  5. Items are lower end or fast fashion brands that are on our do not buy list. Click here to see a list of brands we do not buy.
  6. Sometimes, your stuff could even be interesting AND good quality, but just not right for our store. (We know our customers and what they like!)

We rely on our amazing sellers to help us keep our inventory fresh and interesting for our amazing customers. We know you have great taste; otherwise, you wouldn't be in our store:) Please know that we have to pass up plenty of GOOD stuff, all the time. We sure hope you won't take it personally if we don't make an offer on your stuff, and that you'll try again sometime. We appreciate you!

Do you take donations?
Icon

We do not take any donations at Cash4Clothes. If you're just trying to downsize your closet, you can take donations to our sister store, Do Overs, located at 2130 Simmental Way (across from Fuel Fitness). Do Overs accepts donations from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

What is your return policy?
Icon

All sales are final. No returns or exchanges, please.

Do you sell gift cards?
Icon

Yes we do! Gift cards purchased at Cash4Clothes can also be used at our sister store, Do Overs. If you would like to purchase a gift card, please inquire at the front counter.
